Background
It’s Pollinator Week!
What a great time to discuss how pollinators contribute to our food systems. When snacking on some of your favorite fruits — apples or blueberries, have you ever wondered how these fruits were produced? Now is the time to fuel your curiosity!
In Advance
- Create your own list of foods, look up the lesson plan “Pollination by products” or Canada's Food Guide for ideas
- Decorate your class with images of different types of pollinators
- Select a pollinator - themed song
- Plan a special presentation with your buddies to celebrate pollinator week: a poem, dance or artwork

Task
- Pick an activity buddy and explain what you’re having for lunch
- Let them Identify which pollinator helped produce the food product you listed. Other students can contribute to the discussion as well
- Students take turns to present a special song, dance or artwork to the class
- Wrap up your lunch party with a song
