WTVQ - Morehead State University Students planted trees Wednesday in recognition of Arbor Day.The Gamma Upsilon Chapter聽of Sigma Alpha Iota SAI 聽music聽sorority held the tree planting at the former site of Butler Hall.Sorority members planted a red maple tree, dogwood trees and decorative shrubs on the site.The University also donated a commemorative bench.EmaLee聽Copeland, a junior from Milton and the SAI service committee chair, said the planting fulfilled the sorority community service goal. We try to do a couple of service projects each year, Copeland said. I was walking back to my dorm and noticed this space wasnt being used, so I decided to see if we could do something with it. Copeland said the sorority raised money to buy the tree, which was specifically chosen to match the sorority colors: red and white. Since its a shade tree, we figured the music students could come out here and sit on the bench under the tree and just relax after a long day, Copeland said.
