Washington mdash; Prosecutors say Nadine Menendez, the wife of Democratic New Jersey Sen. Bob Menendez, was central to orchestrating the alleged scheme that ended in bribery charges against her and her husband. The senator was convicted Tuesday of accepting gold bars and nearly $500,000 in cash in return for political favors.Though physically absent from her husband s trial, she was a prominent figure in the case, and is facing 15 charges herself.
